The psalmist wrote that a good family life is a reward for following God. The values outlined in God's Word include love, service, honesty, integrity, and prayer. These help all relationships and they are especially vital to home life. Is your home life heavenly or hectic? Reading and obeying God's Word is a good place to start to make your family all that it should be.
Psalm 128 / New International Version
1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
who walk in his ways.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
4 Thus, is the man blessed
who fears the Lord.
5 May the Lord bless you from Zion;
all the days of your life;
all the days of your life;
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem,
6 and may you live to see your children’s children.
Peace be upon Israel.
6 and may you live to see your children’s children.
Peace be upon Israel.
A common phrase that I have heard since becoming a Christian is "the family that prays together, stays together." This is what I would want for my own family. I grew up watching my dad pray every morning in his own personal study time, as us kids were getting up and ready for school. He studied, prayed and wrote in a prayer journal everyday. And even to this day, with all of us kids gone - he still does it. His relationship to my mom is amazing and their love for the Lord is in abundance. Who wouldn't want that for their own life? I do.
